Rhapsody in Blue

The discovery of the Z axis made me dwell into the depths of game development. It was magical and fascinating.

What started out as an exploration of the extend features of Game Maker turned it into a 3D work of art. This project in particular taught me valuable experience in the Z axis and how parent and child nodes worked. It was quite a journey for myself to figure out how to calculate the height based on my X and Y position in the map. Another technique that I have learnt in this project was the drawing of black lines surrounding the character. For that, I have used back-face culling to simulate the lines. The inspiration came from games like Viewtiful Joe. While the game was not complete, it did provide me the confidence to do something greater.
